How do I look?
For quite a bit I’ve not liked the Photowalking.org theme. So, a couple of months back I started looking for a new one. In the midst I found a theme that I just knew would work great for my personal blog over at TrevorCarpenter.com. I continued my search.
Every so often I’d load up a small list of themes, testing them out. Usually I’d do this late at night, when most in the US were sleeping. I never liked what I kept trying.
Then this week it hit me. Hey! I like my other blog’s theme. Why not use it on both. So, here it is!
What I wanted was something simple enough to not draw attention from the articles and the photographs included. Something easy to navigate, with good sidebar widget control. Additionally, I wanted a theme that was wide enough to include large images or many in just one. What do you think?
Oh, and if you’re reading this in your RSS reader…click on over and take a look.
I still have a little bit of work to do. I need to move over all the information from the old sidebar and the ad stuff for B&H.

I like it. The colors are nice, tabs are great, only flaw is that my name is listed twice :\

That’s weird, I checked my settings and it should be syndicating the entire article. I unselected then reselected it. It should be working now.
Thanks for the tip.

@John, that’s because you didn’t input your information exactly the same, when you commented. I’ll see what I can do about that.

I think it’s kinda bland, but it’s not an annoying layout so it works. I see full RSS feeds btw.

Thanks Tim. Bland is OK with me, as long as I don’t distract from the content.

I like the look that Trevor is using and I’m even using it myself. Sometimes the more simple it looks the easier it is to move around. I just changed over from a traditional website to a blog site.

I prefer the new theme to the old one, but IMO it could do with some tweaking. I definitely believe that for a site focusing on photos, that the design shouldn’t distract from the content. However, I don’t care for the font or color used for the site title, and I think the amount of white space on the right side of the page (once you get below the middle and right sidebars) does tend to be distracting. Also, looking at the front page right now (Jan 5), I need to scroll down almost 2 full screens before I see a photo. Not sure what you can do about that when the last few posts don’t include photos. Maybe find a good photo to stick up in the header? Other than that, it looks great.

Of course, we’re not reading this in our RSS feed - you don’t allow the whole thing to be published there. I sure wish you’d change that, I only read this site once in awhile becasue the whole thing doesn’t come to my RSS page.
