Wow, what a great time I had on this one! I took along the Princess and we arrived about 10 minutes early. Leigh cowboy.jpgwas already there. Ron, Jason, Brian, Jessica, Bryan, James, Norman and Patricia arrived not long after that. Later in the afternoon, some of Bryan’s friends joined us too.

We started at the end of Olvera Street, nearest the plaza, and each spread out, moving at our own pace. The Princess and I wandered down Olvera Street, focusing on one side down and one side coming back. The weather was nice and overcast, give us great diffused light.

Once back at the plaza, we regrouped with several photowalkers and headed through the plaza to catch Los Angeles’ first firehouse, just before it closed. The Princess was most excited by the brass pole that the firefighters used to slide down from the upper floor. A few more joined us and we decided to head over to Union Station.

Just inside, the large spacious area where travelers used to purchase their tickets, you’ll find a large empty room. Apparently this isn’t used anymore, except for movies and television. We spent some time there, shooting the expanse and enjoying the beautiful ceilings. You may recognize this area from many movies.

Winding throughout the long hallways we headed towards the tracks. Hoping to get their in a direct route, we were forced to exit and circumvent Union Station to the end of the tracks. This proved to be fruitful, however, because we shot some nice modern architecture along the way.

Once at the tracks, we shot for a bit and were tempted by the sight of the New Union Station’s dome. So we headed underground to follow the hallways again. Arriving underneath The after photowalk mealthe dome, we looked up and saw its beauty.

It wasn’t long before we realized that many of us were quite hungry by now, so we paused to reorganize. Not all of us were ready to eat, and it was nearing the end of a nice photowalk. A few decided to head home, and the rest set our sights back on Olvera Street. It was there, where we began, that we ended a great day with some great Mexican food, especially the chips and salsa.
Speaking for myself, I had a great time! Below are a few links to take a better look at what we did…

Great recap Trevor — I know I had an awesome time up there with you guys. I’m still working through my photos trying to process all the good ones — I still have another 30+ photos to go out of my 258 I took. I’m pretty pleased with the people shots I was able to get — the location was great for that kind of stuff.
